Harvest Moon for the Super Nintendo way back in 1998(copy and pasted from my Harvest Moon Back to Nature thread)
![]() It was late in the Summer of 1998 when I received an issue of Gamepro or Gamefan(can't remember which) and in it was a double ad for two sure to be overlooked releases that year: Harvest Moon GB and Legend of the River King. The tagline for Harvest Moon was something like "Eat breakfast, feed the Chickens, milk the cows and do some shopping in town all before sunrise." Now I know exactly why this caught my interest so; It detailed a game in so few words that was seemingly void of monsters, big boss battles and adventure and villains wanting to destroy the world. Up until that point, I had never experienced a like that. I would sometimes, in the middle of an adventure through Secret of Mana or Breath of Fire, just stop and play around a bit in villages making my own stories. For me, the premise of Harvest Moon was awesome and something that I just had to play. So the following weekend I stopped at the just opened (but now closed) Hollywood Video. On a lonely shelf in the back behind the Playstation and Nintendo 64 games sat a copy of Harvest Moon just waiting for me to rent it. I did obviously so as not to disappoint it. The next few hours were filled with fun as I was getting my first taste of what turn into an amazing, yet highly underrated, franchise. I made it into the Fall of the first year that night. My nephew was visiting for the Summer, and he had an idea at the time to continue watering the Tomatoes I had growing thinking that they would grow larger and larger if I did-- They didn't. The only purpose that served was to put a halt to my flow of income. It was funny though, neither of us knew exactly how the gameplay mechanics worked so we thought "What the heck?". Good Times. While not my all-time favorite, it ranks up there with Back to Nature(#1) and Harvest Moon 64(#3).

These are awesome, I didn't know they had a HM for 64 or SN, I wish they would release them to the Wii Shop !
I'll share mine ! Mine was Another Wonderful Life, I got it back in 2005. I bought the Game Cube just so I could play HM, lol. My best friend got me hooked on the game when I spent the night at her house, needless to say five years later I still have tons of fun playing these games, they never get old ! Currently I own Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life, Another Wonderful Life, Magical Melody (I have my own little opinion on this game), and Animal Parade, which I just bought last Saturday and have become addicted to, just like all the other games. |

![]() ![]() ![]() Actually, the Super Nintendo game is on the wii shop. However, they've made it pretty clear that 64 will never get on there I would suggest trying to get a hard copy, if you have a 64. However, if you've never played the older games, you might not like them very much

I had a scare myself a month ago. I put in my Mario Tennis and the whole system went crazy. Fortunately it was the game, not the console. But it still is a sad loss...
